Breath Alcohol Technician Training
Safety & Health Connections, LLC offers Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) training to satisfy Department of Transportation 49 CFR Part 40 requirements. I am certified by Lifeloc Technologies, Inc. as a MASTER TRAINER for the Phoenix 6.0, Phoenix Classic, and EV30 evidentiary breath alcohol testing equipment. Also discussed are specific rules for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration or other applicable agencies (FAA, FRA, FTA, PHMSA), Non-DOT testing, and company policies.
Safety & Health Connections, LLC offers five options for Breath Alcohol Technician training:
A Safety & Health Connections, LLC trainer will visit your site and perform all aspects of the DOT BAT training including Basic Information, Qualification Training and the Initial Proficiency Demonstration (aka Proficiency Training). This is ideal for larger groups as you can get everyone trained at once. Other benefits are that you can choose a date convenient for your staff and avoid travel hassles and associated expenses for your staff to get trained off site.
- On-site sit in:
I travel extensively throughout the Southeast to perform training. If a class is scheduled somewhere in your area you could sit in on that class, with the advance permission of the client holding it, and complete the entire training session. Costs are split proportionally between you and the host client. This is ideal for 1-2 people and saves money as the costs are shared.
- At Safety & Health Connections, LLC home office in Browns Summit (Greensboro area) North Carolina:
Come to Safety & Health Connections home office for the entire training. As I do not incur travel time and expenses my daily rate is less. This is ideal for groups of 1-3 people. I have had clients from Maine to Texas come here for training, some of whom enjoy extra time to visit central North Carolina or even travel to our mountains or beaches.
- On-line Basic and Qualification / Webcam Initial Proficiency Training:
Order the on-line BAT training from Safety & Health Connections, LLC for $100/person. Complete this training and schedule the Proficiency Training via webcam. The webcam training (additional cost) includes observation of the 7 mock tests, operation of the breath tester, calibration and calibration checks. This is ideal for small groups of 1-3 people (two breath testers required for 3 people) as it avoids travel expenses altogether.
- On-line Basic and Qualification / On-site Initial Proficiency Training:
Order the on-line BAT training from Safety & Health Connections, LLC for $100/person. Complete this training and schedule the Proficiency Training (additional cost) at your business with a Safety & Health Connections, LLC trainer. This is ideal for larger groups who are constrained by time. As Proficiency Training takes around 4 hours I can provide two sessions in a day so your entire staff isn't in training at the same time.
Per DOT regulations inspection, maintenance and calibration of the EBT are performed by its manufacturer or a maintenance representative certified either by the manufacturer or by a state health agency or other appropriate state agency. Safety & Health Connections can train you how to calibrate the EBT and Lifeloc Technologies offers the ability for the user to calibrate the EBT with the Certified Lifeloc Operator and Calibration Technician designation and certificate.
The fee for this certificate is $50/person for new technicians, $25/person for refresher technicians, or $35/person for a group of 7 or more. Safety & Health Connections will invoice these fees and send them and the appropriate paperwork to Lifeloc Technologies for your certificate.
Please contact us for training prices and options which work best for you.
Breath alcohol testing is also becoming an integral component of non-DOT substance abuse programs, especially for post accident and reasonable suspicion.
